Like many of the mysteries of life still up for debate, the possibility of a zombie apocalypse is still widely discussed with various conclusions constantly drawn. There are those who are not open minded and they cannot see farther then the scientific data that surrounds their meager existence. Although the fact remains that the reasons that make the apocalypse possible are all scientific in nature! Unfortunately, many scientific studies are based on the knowledge now at our disposal; but no studies on the future can be conclusive or viable. Let us explore five reasons why the zombie apocalypse could happen.
Nano Technology
Nanotechnology is already soaking up research funds in laboratories around the world. The goal of these nano robots that are self-replicating is to one day make the neural connections in the brain when the original ones cannot be repaired. It is believed that these nano robots can survive the deceased host by up to thirty days presenting the possibility of the host continuing to function past death.
Stem Cell Research
This research has deemed it possible to reanimate dead cells. The process of reanimating brain tissue has become quite fascinating. It does not take a rocket scientist to see where this research is headed. The brain is key to everything and is the only organ in the body that cannot be replaced. This may be the most dangerous of all research because it opens the door for that human error to change our world forever and possibly lead to something out of our worst nightmare.
The Unknown Virus
To say that there is not an unknown virus out there yet to affect the earth in ways we cannot comprehend is pure skepticism at its most damaging. Perhaps a virus may never exist that brings blood thirsty corpses from their grave to feed on our brains, but strong comparisons may very well be possible. It is only a matter of time for when one of our research facilities purposely or accidentally stumbles upon a zombie-like virus that could end the world as we know it.
Toxins Of A Neuro Origin
The origins of the zombie started with this very thing in Haiti when Voodoo Priests provided these toxins to make them appear deceased and then bring them back only to dwell in a slave state of existence. It can happen; these toxins are found in certain plants and the Japanese blow fish. Okay, maybe not the flesh eating zombie to which we have become accustomed, but a zombie in its truest form just the same.
The Parasite
We know that the parasite feeds off his host and can control the host to the point of having him eaten by a bigger host so they can feed off of it. Once again the question has to be explored as to what type of parasites may exist that we have yet to find. If a parasite were to be established that could control the human brain; there is no limit to the possibilities.
